# Colour Palette Prompting
Colour is the fastest way to make a set of images feel related. These notes cover how I steer palettes in [Raphael AI](https://raphael.app).
## Name a palette, not just one colour
"Muted palette of sage green, sand and terracotta" works better than "green".
## Borrow from real materials
"Colours of weathered copper", "faded denim and chalk", "autumn maple leaves" are concrete references the model understands.
## Set the temperature
"Cool blue hour light" versus "warm golden hour light" changes every colour in the frame at once.
## Limit saturation
"Desaturated", "pastel", or "high contrast, saturated" are powerful single words. For brand work, desaturated images often sit better next to text.
## Check consistency
When building a series, keep the palette sentence identical across prompts and change only the subject.
## Accessibility note
If images carry information, do not rely on colour alone; add labels in your layout.
