Colour Palette Prompting
Colour is the fastest way to make a set of images feel related. These notes cover how I steer palettes in Raphael AI.
Name a palette, not just one colour
"Muted palette of sage green, sand and terracotta" works better than "green".
Borrow from real materials
"Colours of weathered copper", "faded denim and chalk", "autumn maple leaves" are concrete references the model understands.
Set the temperature
"Cool blue hour light" versus "warm golden hour light" changes every colour in the frame at once.
Limit saturation
"Desaturated", "pastel", or "high contrast, saturated" are powerful single words. For brand work, desaturated images often sit better next to text.
Check consistency
When building a series, keep the palette sentence identical across prompts and change only the subject.
Accessibility note
If images carry information, do not rely on colour alone; add labels in your layout.
